The SFO IAMAW Local Lodge 1781 Committee focuses on advocating for and representing the needs and interests of the members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The committee works to address issues such as fair wages, benefits, and working conditions for IAMAW members, as well as promoting a safe and inclusive work environment. They also work to ensure that the rights of IAMAW members are protected and that their voices are heard within the workplace and the broader community. The committee may also be involved in organizing events, campaigns, and initiatives to support the goals and priorities of IAMAW Local Lodge 1781 at SFO.
You may select any shop steward that can arrive on the scene within a reasonable amount of time - supervisors and managers cannot assign a shop steward to you. The company can tell you which stewards are on the clock and in or near your work area. A steward can help you to understand your rights, observe meetings between you and the company, and refer your concerns to local lodge leadership and other activists. Stewards are your advocates. Never attend a closed-door meeting with a supervisor or manager without a steward. Even if you expect the discipline to be minor, a steward can take notes for you and help you ask the right questions and uphold your contractual rights.
