June 8, 2007 US Airways Transition
Negotiations Update
To: All IAM Members Employed by US Airways
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
This week your Transition Negotiating committee met in CLT to resume
negotiations in an ongoing effort to reach an agreement. Substantial
discussions followed with an intense effort to make some headway and
progress in these discussions by both parties.
I would describe our discussions this week as meaningful progress,
enough to warrant our continued efforts and hope of bringing these
discussions to a satisfactory conclusion in your behalf.
A number of difficult issues remain, but both parties are working hard
to explore solutions to determine if an agreement can be achieved. Some
of these issues are of a legal complex nature and it is in that regard,
we have recessed our discussions to review/explore with our legal
counsel proposals to present to the Company when we next meet. I will be
meeting in DCA with our International for this purpose and to provide a
review as to our current status and outlook.
Transition negotiations have been scheduled to resume on June 27, 28,
and 29th, 2007.
Your continued support and patience is both critical and appreciated by
your Committee, as we attempt to bring these discussions to a
satisfactory conclusion in your behalf.
Sincerely and fraternally,
S. R. (Randy) Canale
President and Directing
